It's a new term and an abundance of opportunities seem to be coming my way for a change. I don't know what has caused this sudden change of fortune but I am feeling immensely thankful for my lot.
I'm enjoying the challenges of work again and believe me it is challenging! I started this term by leading whole staff training in Child Protection and there have been a number of issues since which have meant finding time for phone calls to external agencies. I don't mind!
I totally "bottled it" when it came to applying for my "dream charity job" because I realised that my own job actually suits my lifestyle pretty well. There aren't any jobs I can think of where you can spend all summer with your kids. The pay is adequate and although I am not trained for much else, I actually do have a lot of knowledge and life experience to fall back on. I am now more grateful for that.
In September, I had an "informal chat" at a the HQ of a local autism charity and am in the process of becoming an "Autism Ambassador" which is purely voluntary and occasional but something I am looking forward to. I also have BIG plans for Autism Awareness month at my school. Details to be confirmed. Watch this space...
For the first time in a long time I feel recognised and valued in my work place. Relationships are strong and I have been awarded a management allowance after 16 years of service. All comes to she who waits, after all!
This week I have the chance of possibly doing a little freelance/ advisory work. If it happens, it happens. Many doors are opening with new opportunities and I am beginning to build the confidence to walk on through!
